Collections / General Paralegal – Full-time position

Summary The Collections / General Paralegal will work approximately 50% in the area of collections and approximately 50% in the general civil litigation practice of our firm. Under the direction of the Collections Manager, the paralegal will assist in coordinating the pre-litigation collection functions of our firm and use a variety of collection techniques to secure payment on a high volume of accounts. Under the direction of attorneys within the firm, the paralegal will work on a variety of tasks that may include drafting documents, meeting with clients, maintaining accounts, and other possible administrative tasks.

Place and answer debtor collection calls, as well as general receptionist duties, and provide excellent customer service; 2. Prepare account statements, pre-litigation notices, and court documents; 3. Correspond with debtors, clients, other attorney offices; 4. Review and manage accounts using collection software programs; 5. Use payment processing portal to accept debtor payments; 6. Develop strategies and processes to improve collections processes; 7. Prepare reports and communicate with other paralegals and attorneys; 8. Adhere to strict standards regulating debtor communications and debtor information; 9. Maintain accurate time-keeping notes and correspondence in client management software.
Physical Demands This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally 8:30 – 4:30.
Travel Travel to local courts, government offices, post offices, and/or to surrounding counties may be requested sporadically as well as general errands depending on the needs and availability within the office. This position may be located in either Chillicothe or Waverly
Preferred Education and Experience 1. Degree, certification, or coursework in Accounting, Business, Paralegal Studies, Real Estate, or related field. 2. Ability to multi-task, follow-through with projects, and give attention to details. 3. Prior experience in a law office or legal work environment, 3 – 5 years preferred.

Legal Support Assistant — THIS POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED
This position will involve work with paralegals and attorneys that focus in transactional, collection, family, and some litigation matters.Our office is a small firm with several attorneys and paralegals that allows employees to work on a flex-time schedule.The roll will be as a general front office support assistant with a variety of clerical activities and related tasks in a diverse law practice environment. The administrative support assistant will be responsible for answering incoming calls, directing calls to appropriate associates, scanning mail, flow of correspondence, requisition of supplies as well as additional clerical duties pertaining to certain law firm accounts.

Answers telephones and directs the call
Greets and directs visitors and clients.
Receives, sorts and forwards incoming mail.
Files pleading with the courts and checks court mailboxes.
Processes incoming communications; scans/sorts according to office document filing system
.Assists in the ordering, receiving, stocking and distribution of office supplies.
Assists with other related clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing, filing and collating.
Customer or Client Focus.

This is a part-time position (approximately 25-30 hours per week) with the possibility of expanding hours and/or becoming full time. Days and hours of work may be negotiated.
Travel to local courts, the post office, and office supply retailers is expected for this position.Additional, non-regular travel to surrounding counties may be requested sporadically.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma.
One year of administrative or related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
Experience in a law office or legal work environment is a plus.
